Known as “Jatim” beads, these monochromatic glass spheres are believed to have been produced in East Java sometime during the end of the first millennium BCE. These large and early Indonesian beads were predominantly made in a few colors -red/brown, yellow, green and blue. Often dulled and matte from years of existence, the practice of polishing and soaking in coconut oil brings them back to life.
