These green, 4-layer “watermelon” chevrons were made by the glass crafters in the island of Murano, Italy. A lost art, the creation of this style “rosetta” bead had been a secret whose details were missing for hundreds of years. Rediscovered during the 1400’s by a female glass artist named Marietta Barovier, beads of this sort have become favorites in cultures around the world.
Dated to the 1800’s. Strand size is approximately 22 inches. Average bead size is approximately 5mm. Hole size is 1mm.
