Strand features eighteen Venetian seven layer Chevron beads with a center traditional Bodom bead from Ghana, Africa

Chevron beads first appear near the end of the 14th century. Created by glass bead makers of Venice, Italy they are sometimes called Rosetta beads. These rare seven layer drawn cane glass beads were likely manufactured toward the end of the 15th century.

The highly prized center Bodom bead is of the powdered glass bead technique made popular in Ghana and Mauritania, West Africa. Beads are made from crushed glass which is placed in a mold or hand formed. A thin layer of yellow glass coats the inner core of this large bead and has lost some of the original decoration.

Overall, the condition of this entire strand is excellent.
